Meal Monday: Ham and Swiss Rolls

When I was in college I lived super close to campus, so would walk to class. Between my house and school was the best kolache place ever, Dos Gatos. I would stop there about once a week to get breakfast because they were so freakin’ good! They made the traditional sausage and cheese, but also got more creative with ham and cheese, or pepperoni, or sausage and jalapeno. They grew my love of kolaches, big time.

H-E-B (a grocery store in Texas) is currently having a HUGE sale on spiral sliced ham. I’m talking an 11 pound ham for $5. It’s crazy. It was so much ham after we cooked and sliced it, that it filled my 8 X 11 baking pan! Which means we’re cooking ham everything this week. Even ham and Swiss kolaches! Yum! (And they’re super easy)

1. If you’re doing what I did and starting from a spiral sliced ham, begin by cooking the ham in the oven at 275° for 11 minutes per one pound of meat. (For example, mine was 11 pounds and I cooked for 99 minutes.)

2. Slice the ham. Wrap ham and Swiss cheese in a crescent roll.

3. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

4. Serve warm!
